About

Pilgrimage

For centuries, Christians have made journeys to places associated with the saints of the Church.  St Flannan’s lies in a landscape punctuated by places which people have recognised as holy.

We welcome pilgrims who have come to explore this landscape by intentionally leaving the familiar for a while to walk and pray.

We have a short prayer leaflet available for pilgrims to guide a spiritual journey to the Cathedral.

The Cathedral is at the end of the Limerick-Killaloe Camino, a pilgrimage trail of 25km leading from St Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick to Killaloe.

There are other possibilities for pilgrimage which include the ancient church of St Cronan, Tuamgraney and Iniscealtra, or Holy Island accessible from Mountshannon by boat with the ruins of 6 churches, a round tower and an oratory.
